About the transfer of Russian relief consignment to Zambia
On September 21, 2020, during an official ceremony H.E. Mr. Alexander Boldyrev, Ambassador of Russia to Zambia, handed over Russian relief consignment to Hon. Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, Minister of Health of Zambia, aimed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
The cargo, consisted of PCR test kits enough for the conduction of 5000 individual tests, was delivered by the EMERCOM aircraft to Zimbabwe and from there was transported by the Embassy to Zambia.
In his address, H.E. Mr. Boldyrev praised the efforts of the Zambian government in combating the spread of COVID-19 and its contribution to the normalization of the global health situation. Besides, H.E. Mr. Boldyrev highlighted that following the last year inaugural Russia-Africa Summit and landmark visit of H.E. Mrs. Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, to Zambia in February this year there have been the revitalization and intensification of the bipartite ties and interstate links. The current donation is a vivid sign of the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, built on the solid basis of mutual respect and with due regards to the national interests of each other.
Hon. Dr. Chilufya, in his turn, expressed deep gratitude to the Russian authorities and the people of our country for the valuable and timely support and particularly noted the strong nature of the Russian-Zambian relations, demonstrated in the said act of solidarity.
