On the celebration of the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War
A gala concert dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Lusaka (RCSC) on the 9th of May.
As part of the cultural event, the «Immortal Regiment» memorial wall was opened, where the portraits of veterans, sent by the compatriots living in Zambia and by diplomatic mission staff, were put. With the support of the National Museum of Lusaka and the Association of Museums of Zambia, an exhibition “We Remember, We Are Proud”, devoted to the key stages of the war, was organized in one of the premises of the Centre and included photographs and authentic items of those years. The celebration of the Victory Day at the RCSC was attended by the compatriots, employees of Russian organizations and representatives of Zambian cultural and educational community. With a print run of 300 copies, the thematic newsletter “Russkie Vedomosti” was distributed among the compatriots.
Due to the current sanitary and epidemiological restrictions, a big reception at the Embassy was not held this year. The Embassy staff organized an evening party, dedicated to this commemorative event, on their own.
