Russia allocates 138 scholarships to Zambia to study at its national universities
Ambassador of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Alexander Vilovich Boldyrev have handed a certificate on the quota’s allocation of 138 full tuition scholarships at Higher education institutions of Russia to Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Zambia Hon. Dr. Brian Mushimba.
The ceremony of the official granting of the certificate of the Russian Government for graduates of Zambian schools was held on the 30th of April, 2020 at the Russian Centre for Culture and Science. In his speech H.E. Mr. Alexander Vilovich Boldyrev noted that Russia contributes significantly to the economic and social development of Zambia on an ongoing basis, training highly qualified personnel in the fields with the greatest employment potential.
Dr. Mushimba, for his part, expressed gratitude to the Russian Government for the long-standing cooperation and commended the prestige and competitiveness of Russian education. The competition for scholarships this year is 9 people per place. At the moment, 600 Zambian students are studying at Russian universities. More than 4,000 graduates work today in the various areas of Zambian national economy, as well as for the highest authorities of the country.
The key fields of study of Zambian students are medicine, agronomy and engineering, including the specialists in the sphere of peaceful use of atomic energy, who are planned to be involved in the work on a promising project of the Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST) and for ZAMATOM.
