Important visa information
Starting April 25, 2016, all applications for Russian visas submitted in Zambia must be prepared using the Electronic Visa Application Form at https://visa.kdmid.ru
The Russian Embassy in Lusaka is empowered to issue Russian visas only to foreigners who hold a Zambian residence permit or who have been granted permission to stay in Zambia continuously over 180 days (for example, for work or study reasons). Exceptions can be made if the purpose of a trip to Russia is related to the death or serious illness of a close relative.
Russian visas are issued for specific dates of entry and departure. These dates, as well as the visa type and number of entries, are specified in the basis for visa application. Foreigners are allowed to enter and are required to leave Russia within this specific timeframe.
Entry to the Russian Federation is prohibited if a valid visa is contained within an invalid passport. In such cases, the visa must be transfered beforehand to a new passport based on a written request at any consular institution of the Russian Federation (a fee is charged for the service).
All visa applications are processed within 4 – 20 working days.
In specific cases, the processing time may be reduced to 1-3 working days (for extra fee).
Accepting visa applications for expedited processing is solely at the discretion of the Consular Section and may be denied.
Applicants for all types of visas are required to come to the Consular Section in person (unless otherwise authorized).
Please make sure that your passport has at least 2 empty pages. If your current Zambian visa is in the passport other than the one you submit with the visa application please provide the original of this passport.
Consular officers are authorized to request any additional documents relating to the trip beyond the standard list of required documents. Upon processing the application a visa may be denied without giving an explanation.
Visa fees are non-refundable.
Citizens of some countries (the list is available at: https://evisa.kdmid.ru/) are eligible for a unified e-visa. At the present moment, the Republic of Zambia is not included in that list.
