On the delivery of a spark of the Eternal Flame

A delegation of the People's Front arrived to the Republic of Zambia to deliver a spark of the Eternal Flame to the Lusaka National Museum and the Russian House, which for a long time remains a center of gravity for Zambian friends and compatriots living in Zambia.

The patriotic event “Flame of Memory” began at the Tomb of an Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden on 4 May, when a spark of the Eternal Flame was lit in the special lamps to be delivered to 130 Russian cities and 21 foreign countries.

The lamp with a spark of the Eternal Flame was brought to Zambia by priest of the Russian Orthodox Chirch, monk of Pafnutius-Borovski monastery, precentor of the monastery choir, participant and winner of the “Russia Voice” competition hieromonk Photius. Right after his arrival, he held a meeting with Zambian youth that studies the Russian language and plans to get education in Russia under the Russian Government Scholarship, alumni of Russian universities and congregation of the future Church of Archangel Michael in Lusaka. Russian Ambassador to Zambia A.Yarakhmedov and diplomats of the Russian Embassy took part in the event.

In February 2025, a plot of land and a building were granted to the Russian Orthodox Church to organize the first Russian parish in Zambia.
